Why Love How You Eat works
I used to eat and drink as a way to show myself love.
I would feel dysregulated (though I didn’t really know it) and say I “needed” something to feel better, that I “deserved” it.
This would happen automatically.
I didn’t register that this process was at play because it was so engrained. I had become so conditioned to believe that food and alcohol was a helpful solution to almost every emotion!
But when I consumed from that energy, it created negative downstream consequences (because consuming when you’re not hungry makes it very hard to know when to stop and always leads to overing) — weight gain, diet drama, strong urges and cravings, low self-worth, constant mind chatter and food noise.
The coddling and comforting that I was doing with food and alcohol was actually detrimental to my overall happiness — it just temporarily numbed how I felt and never got me where I wanted to go.
But wow, the relief you get to feel from obeying your desire and numbing your discomfort? It was vital for me because I didn’t have the tools to do things differently. Until I found coaching.
