Get to know Sally

I wish I had known that diets never work when I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting twenty years ago.

I had gone to university a healthy weight (with a penchant for a good time) and came back two stone heavier!

It was suggested I lose some weight and exercise so off I went to my first meeting.

That started over 15 years of dieting.

From Weight Watchers to Whole 30, Paleo, macro counting, vegan food delivery, juice cleanses, Prolon, and anything Goop told me to do, I tried everything.

It was a cycle of loving and resenting food and alcohol, fluctuating weight drama, eating when I wasn’t hungry (or rejecting my hunger entirely), body envy, and frantic gym-going.

I couldn’t work out where I was going wrong.

I felt like I was trying harder than everybody else but never getting (or staying) anywhere

In April 2021, after lockdowns, home-schooling, and personal struggles, I was the heaviest I had ever been (without being pregnant). I felt uncomfortable and not at home in my body.

I couldn’t shift the weight whatever I tried because I couldn’t stick at anything. Results were slow and hard to come by.

But then my sister recommended a podcast by a life coach that addressed emotional eating. I started listening and was quickly drawn in. Everything started to make sense.

The coaching addressed both what we eat and why we eat – seeing our eating (and drinking) as a symptom of how we think and feel.

I could finally see that I had been using food and alcohol to cope, escape, or revel in almost every emotion and in doing that, I’d learnt eating and drinking behaviours that didn’t serve me.

By addressing my thoughts and feelings (rather than rejecting or ignoring them), I was finally able to stop numbing how I felt with food and alcohol.

I immersed myself in all that coaching had to offer and was blown away by the results.

My body started to change quickly and easily. My mind chatter about food and alcohol eased. My emotional state greatly improved.

I felt confident, calm, in control. I was finally eating and drinking in accordance to my values.

It was easy to keep going.

Over the course of nine months, I lost all the weight I had gained over the years and was back to where I was before university.

It felt incredible to have finally found a solution that worked, and I was determined to share it with other women.

So I trained as a life coach with the school that taught me this approach and as a health coach at the College of Naturopathic Medicine so that I could support my clients with a holistic approach.

I finally felt understood and had the tools to change my eating and drinking habits for good.

It’s now been over four years since I discovered this work, and I’ve been coaching women for more than three years.

The Love How You Eat method is the culmination of everything I’ve learned, personally and professionally.

When we’re too focused on weight, we restrict our food (only to overeat later) and lose connection with our bodies.

When we lose connection with our bodies, we can’t implement the simple tools that help us feel good in them — like eating for hunger and stopping at enough.

The diets and quick-fixes have eroded our trust and confidence that we can truly change the behaviours that are keeping us feeling so stuck and frustrated.

I believe we already have everything we need to create the change we want. It’s within us, and we just need the tools to connect with it.

I want to help you take back control and show you that there’s a solution to this exhausting issue.

And I want you to know that it doesn’t involve restriction and deprivation, robbing you of the joy and connection that good food can bring.

This approach will bring more pleasure, peace and freedom to your life.

Let me show you.
